Mammoth Mountain Ski Area
Skiing Facility
Mammoth Mountain is home to the highest ski resort in California. Mammoth is notable for the unusually large amount of snowfall it receives compared to other Eastern Sierra peaks—about 400" annually—due to its location in a low gap in the Sierra crest.[19] In the summer months the ski gondolas are used by mountain bikers and tourists who wish to get a summit view of Long Valley Caldera directly to the east and Sierra peaks to the west, south and north.[4]

Sierra Star Golf Course
Golf Course
At 8,000 feet above sea level, Sierra Star Golf Course is the highest golf course in California, allowing you to add yards to your drive. And with snow-capped peaks in every direction, winding mountain streams, lush wildflowers, fairways lined with Jeffrey pines and towering red firs and the occasional family of deer – you won't find a more stunning
golf course anywhere
C
Bodie Ghost Town
All Seasons Attraction
Bodie is a ghost town in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California, United States, about 75 miles (120 km) southeast of Lake Tahoe. It is located 12 miles (19 km) east-southeast of Bridgeport, at an elevation of 8379 feet (2554 m). As Bodie Historic District, the U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes it as a National Historic Landmark. The ghost town has been administered by California State Parks since becoming a state historic park in 1962, and receives about 200,000 visitors yearly

Devils Postpile National Monument
Summer Attraction
Devils Postpile National Monument was once part of Yosemite National Park, but discovery of gold in 1905 near Mammoth Lakes prompted a boundary change that left the Postpile on adjacent public land.[citation needed] A proposal to build a hydroelectric dam later called for blasting the Postpile into the river. Influential Californians, including Walter L. Huber, persuaded the federal government to stop the demolition and in 1911, President William Howard Taft made the area into a United States National Monument.

Whiskey Creek
Restaurant
If you favor surf-and-turf fare in an alpine atmosphere with a swinging nightlife scene, make a reservation here. Whiskey Creek's wraparound windows proffer a pretty view of the snow-clad mountains, and the menu is known for its excellent South Carolina pork chops, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, and barbecued pork spareribs, all served with a heaping side of roasted garlic mashed potatoes. The dining room may be peaceful, but the upper-level brewpub is a different world. If you're not too stuffed, head upstairs to hear live music every night from 9pm until at least 1am, making it the number-one spot in town to hear cheesy pickup lines.

Yosemite National Park
Tourist Attraction
Yosemite National Park is a United States National Park spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in east central California, United States. The park covers an area of 761,268 acres (3,080.74 km2)[ and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year: most spend their time in the seven square miles (18 km2) of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity.[5] Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness.[6] Although not the first designated national park, Yosemite was central to the development of the national park idea, largely owing to the work of people like Galen Clark and John Muir.[

Natural Hot Springs
Outdoor Activities
Eastern California presents a unique opportunity for a relaxing soak in natural hot springs, surrounded by exceptional scenery. This lightly-visited area has lots of open, public land and a volcanic geology which keeps the springs warm. It also has a lot of generous locals who work very hard to keep some of these springs flowing, clean and easy to access.
